We in the Parish of St Thomas the Apostle, Laurel Lodge, value and encourage the participation of children and young people in all parish activities that enhance their spiritual, physical, emotional and social development.

We recognise the dignity and rights of all children and are committed to ensuring their protection and support.

In keeping with this, we will work to do all in our power to create safe environments for children and young people in order to secure their protection and enable their full participation in the life of the Church.

  • Advent Calendar 2021

Advent Calendar 2021The first day of Advent heralds the beginning of the Catholic Church’s new year.  Advent (from ‘ad-venire’ in Latin or “to come to”) is the Church season encompassing the four Sundays and weekdays leading up to the celebration of Christmas.  Advent is a time of spiritual preparation for the Lord’s coming at Christmas.  Advent also prepares us for the second coming of Christ at the end of time.

  • Week of Witness

Week of witness2021From November 22nd to November 26th, ACN Ireland invites parishes across the country to join them in a Week of Witness for suffering and persecuted Christians. This special week involves important talks and exhibitions throughout the island of Ireland on the theme of Christian persecution. During the ‘Week of Witness’, ACN Ireland will hold the Red Wednesday Prayer Vigil with the prayerful assistance of dioceses and parishes throughout the country. Red Wednesday is an opportunity for the faithful to gather as a community of worshippers to publicly affirm their thanks to God, their spiritual union with persecuted Christians - and to pray for those who persecuted the Church and Her faithful.
